Braces consist of bands and wires. Depending on your needs, other corrective appliances may be required. They work by applying pressure on your teeth and gums to move your teeth into the right position. Your mouth will need to be monitored closely, and sometimes your braces may need to be adjusted to ensure they are working the way they are supposed to.
Be sure to brush your teeth often while you have braces, so food and other particles do not get stuck and collect bacteria. Flossing is equally important. You may also find that some foods are more difficult to eat or may be rough on your braces. It’s best to stay away from those types of foods.
